Sassy with Salsa at Shoreline Trolley Museum
We have some very exciting news!!! Johanna has been "Shirted"!!! This was her second time joining us to volunteer and is now an official GiveBackGirl! We are so lucky to have her with us as a volunteer. Upbeat, fun, full of energy, and perfectly positive describes our new friend. Welcome Johanna!!
When Michelle and I decided to volunteer, we had no idea it would lead us to a night of Salsa dancing!!! Yet, this is exactly what we ended up doing one beautiful evening in September. The Shoreline Trolley Museum gets pretty creative with programming their events to help support the museum. It keeps drawing us back, not only to help with the event, but to experience the fun as well! But first we lent a hand.
Michelle worked the beverage table...hmmmm... I am starting to see a pattern here. She served up wine, soda, and water. A few lucky guests enjoyed ice cold beer from Rhythm Brewing Co. Wait until you hear who started this brewing company! I know, the suspense is killing you, right? Hang in there, I will let you know. In the meantime, I have to admit that since I was late to the party, I was not much help with set-up. Break-down was my gig. There is always plenty to do after a fun event. Tents to take down, food to put away, and tables to close. Do you see those blow up palm trees? Well, acrobatics and pseudo wrestling were required to deflate them! The process created a room full of laughter to end the evening.
On the left of the picture above, you will see our wonderful salsa instructor, Alisa Bowens-Mercado. She owns Alisas House of Salsa. She is very talented and broke down the moves so that we understood how to move our bodies to resemble dance. Visit her site for a schedule of classes and find out where you can practice your new moves at a salsa social! Remember I promised to share who owned the Rhythm Brewing company? Would you be as impressed as I was to find out that our dance instructor owns a brewery too?
A trolley event would not be complete without a trolley ride! Here we are headed down the tracks and having a ball! Meet Angie on the right. This night was her first event with us. Follow as she becomes an official Give Back Girl!
If you have read our blogs in the past, you know that Michelle and I appreciate the history that this Trolley museum preserves. We had such a good time at this event while lending a hand.
Thank you for reading about this adventure. Be sure to check out the schedule of events at the Shoreline Trolley Museum. Visit for a Trolley ride from East Haven to Short Beach and take in the beauty of the marsh while chugging along. There is something for everyone here.
